Coming Soon: Updated Payment Processor—Stripe

We’re making big investments in our payment processor and processes across all our platforms and services. Soon, we’ll be replacing the ProctorU Platform’s previous payment processor with Stripe. This will streamline backend processing and provide opportunities for future enhancements. We’ve completed extensive pilot testing and plan to implement this change for all clients on the platform starting on November 1.

Now Available: More Language Support and Easier Selection

We continue to focus on meeting all candidates where they are in their professional and educational pursuits. A large part of this is expanding and improving our language support. We’re excited to announce additional language support for our online proctoring platform and a more user-friendly process for selecting a candidate’s preferred language. Moving forward, candidates will be able to easily select their preferred language

directly in their ProctorU account and/or during the ProctorU launch process. We can’t wait to support more of our candidates with these enhancements! To learn more and see screenshots of the language selection process, review this support article.

Coming Soon: Updates to Our “Test It Out” Proctoring Feature

To better prepare candidates for their proctoring sessions, we’re updating our minimum technical requirements. These changes, set to take effect on November 15, will be reflected in our support articles and the on-demand “Test It Out” service.

We’re committed to keeping technical requirements low without sacrificing exam security. However, with technology evolving, we believe it’s time to raise these minimums to ensure a smoother and more secure proctoring experience.

After thorough analysis, we believe these updates will reduce technical errors and positively impact candidates. Here’s how:

  • Update: Increase the required CPU Core count from 2 to 4.
    • Rationale: Over 97% of test-takers today connect to their proctoring sessions via computers that have 4 or more cores.
  • Update: Increase Internet bandwidth speed from 1 Mbps to 3 Mbps.
    • Rationale: In the US, the average internet speed exceeds 20 Mbps. Globally, the average internet speed exceeds 10 Mbps.
  • Update: Increase RAM capacity from 4 GB to 8 GB.
    • Rationale: 8 GB is what industry experts recommend for basic casual computing needs.

We highly encourage candidates to test their equipment prior to their exam to help reduce technical issues and exam disruptions.

ProctorU Platform Maintenance Schedule

We perform monthly maintenance on the ProctorU Platform, using the time to implement vital performance and stability updates. During the scheduled windows, the platform will be completely offline, meaning no one will be able to log in. You can review the 2024 and 2025 maintenance schedule in our support center at any time.

Our Security team has noticed a trend of employee monitoring and corporate IT software being misused in attempts to breach academic integrity. Test-takers are turning to more elaborate and expensive software in an effort to bypass our stringent security measures. This type of software often comes with high-risk features, such as desktop streaming and recording capabilities, keyloggers to capture keyboard input (i.e., keystrokes), hidden system processes, and the ability to remotely control devices. Our Security team regularly identifies, investigates, and blocks these dangerous tools to protect exam integrity.

We regularly survey our clients to understand where we’re meeting expectations and identify areas where we can improve. We’re eager to receive your feedback so please feel free to reach out if you do not receive a survey from us.
