We’re committed to ensuring a smooth proctoring experience for both clients and candidates. To support this, we’ve created several resources to help solve common issues like equipment readiness:
You can also find helpful information on session statuses, another common challenge for ProctorU Platform users, in this article.
Updates to the ProctorU Platform
Streamlined Account Creation Process
Our proctoring procedures and security protocols have evolved over the years to better balance user experience, security, and privacy. Consequently, the types of information we require from candidates have also changed. We’ve updated our New User Sign-Up form to reflect these changes and reduce the amount of information (e.g., home or work phone number, street address, city) we ask users to provide.
Bulk Accommodations Now Available
For those who upload large amounts of accommodation requests to the ProctorU Platform, we have good news! Our new Bulk Accommodation Request form allows you to upload multiple candidate requests at once or download a template for future use. After uploading it, you can expect the accommodations to appear in their respective accounts within 24-72 hours. (Note that our Single Accommodation Request form is still the best way to request accommodations for an individual candidate.)
Rescheduling and Cancellation Lead Times
You can now set time frames in which candidates can reschedule or cancel both online and in-person exams. These time frames can be configured in your account settings.
Rescheduling: For online and in-person exams, the “Rescheduling Lead Time” setting specifies how many calendar days a candidate can reschedule prior to their exam. This is calculated from the start time of the reservation.
For in-person, test center exams, you can also use the “Fee Cut Off” setting to determine how far in advance a candidate can reschedule with an additional fee.
Cancellation: The “Cancellation Lead Time” setting specifies the amount of time before an exam when a candidate can cancel and receive a credit. This setting works like the rescheduling option and applies to online and in-person exams, allowing you to use both features together.
The “Cancellation Lead Time” setting is entered in hours, calculated from the reservation's start time, whereas the “Cancellation Fee Cut Off” is entered in calendar days.
When these settings are enabled, candidates will no longer see the “Reschedule” or “Cancel” buttons after the cut-off times. Rescheduling and cancellation policies can be communicated to candidates during scheduling via the terms-of-service agreement, as well as in confirmation emails, candidate handbooks, and other documentation.
Updates to the Guardian Browser
Enhancing Security and Performance
We’re excited to share a few recent updates that we expect will improve both security and the candidate experience. In the past 30 days, our Security team has identified 20 new applications/processes that pose security risks and added them to our Guardian Browser deny list to mitigate these risks. We’ve also reduced the frequency of the deny list check from 30 to 60 seconds to improve performance on candidate machines without sacrificing security.

Preventing Unauthorized Scheduling in the ProctorU Platform
Administrators may face challenges when candidates mistakenly schedule the wrong assessment or repeatedly book an exam without consulting them. To help prevent unauthorized scheduling, we’ve published three new articles that outline the settings you can configure:
We perform monthly maintenance on the ProctorU Platform, using the time to implement vital performance and stability updates. During the scheduled windows, the platform will be completely offline, meaning no one will be able to log in. You can review the 2024-2025 maintenance schedule in our support center at any time.
Reminder: September Maintenance Window
Our next scheduled maintenance window on the ProctorU Platform is coming up on September 27, 2024, from midnight to 6:00 a.m. CT (UTC-06:00).
Our Security Team uses a client-customized predictive methodology to mitigate cheating for testing organizations that offer high-stakes exams and subscribe to our Enhanced Security Monitoring Program. Factoring in past behavior, exam-specific threats, known risk profiles, and system telemetry data, this risk-scoring process has achieved four times greater accuracy compared to the general testing population. Importantly, this approach does not presume any candidates are cheating or require process changes for them. Instead, additional resources are allocated to monitor high-risk sessions, allowing immediate action if suspicious activity occurs.
