Updates to the ProctorU Platform
Coming Soon: Streamlined User Creation Process
We're simplifying the new user creation process on the ProctorU Platform by removing the "Are you an EU citizen?" field and associated workflow. The change, expected to occur in late December or early January, is based on a legal review confirming that this information is not required for GDPR compliance. Privacy and standards compliance remain our top priorities—we're certified under the Data Protection Framework (DPF) and covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure the secure handling of personal information.
Coming Soon: Remote Proctoring Satisfaction Survey and Associated Reporting
We truly value the insights provided by our test-taker survey. To gather more detailed feedback about the test-taker experience, we developed a new, expanded post-session survey. After several months of testing, the improved survey will be in place starting Dec. 20 and the preceding survey tool will be removed.
Additionally, in early 2025, we will update the instructor and administrator reporting dashboards within the ProctorU Platform to improve platform performance, expedite load times, and facilitate additional data insights.
Both of these changes will ultimately improve test-taker experience and system performance.
Coming Soon: Exam Lobby Improvements
In early 2025, we will enhance the Exam Lobby pre-check process to provide a more seamless and informed test-taker experience. The improvements will help candidates understand the proctoring procedure with real-time updates and clear instructions.
Key updates include:
Proctor Connection Status: Once connected, candidates will receive confirmation and instructions for communicating with their proctor.
Connection Assistance: If LogMeIn Rescue (LMI) isn’t downloaded, candidates will be prompted to install it directly from the Exam Lobby.
Wait Time Messaging: Candidates will receive updates for extended wait times, including notifications at 5 minutes (extended wait) and 10 minutes (extreme wait).
Guardian Browser Extension Pilot
We are piloting the Guardian Browser Extension, a trouble-shooting workflow for test-takers who experience technical issues when launching the Guardian Browser. So far, we have seen positive results, enabling test-takers with unforeseen technical issues on exam day to complete their exams. We will continue to monitor this alternative workflow and provide a progress update in early 2025.
Updates to the Meazure Exam Platform
Now Available: Multi-Factor Authentication for Administrator Roles
As we continue to focus on security, we are happy to share the availability of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for the Meazure Exam Platform. When MFA is enabled, administrative users will be required to pass an additional verification step before they’re granted access to the platform, further safeguarding sensitive exam content and candidate information.
Now Available: Secure Clipboard in the New Candidate UI
The Meazure Exam Platform interface now supports cut, copy, and paste functions within the application for a better test-taker experience. These functions are available on a secure clipboard, which is not accessible by other applications on the test-taker's computer. This means that when text is copied within the exam driver, it cannot then be pasted outside of the driver. Cut/copy/paste functions are available across any open response fields (essay, short answer) and the notepads.
Additionally, exam admins have the option to give candidates the ability to copy portions of an item or passage content within an exam. By default, this content is not selectable or copyable without the enablement of the additional annotation tools. We’ve added on-screen buttons for these common actions to better support usability.
Now Available: Reporting Enhancements
We regularly make updates to existing reports to improve performance and make search and filtering easier. Over the last few months, we’ve added the following:
The User Exam Questions Report
Features “Exam Start” and “Exam Finish” columns for better sorting
Includes “Workflow State” and “Add Score?” columns to better understand score implications
Features added filters for “In Progress” and “Finished”
Populates Likert item answers
The Items Report
Includes an “Automatic Grading” column
Populates Likert item scale information and rationales
The Exam Responses Report
Populates Likert item answers
The Item Density Report
Includes filters for the “Exam” and “Exam Form” with the addition of an “Include Inactive Forms?” option
Reminder: Breaks Have Moved
If you are looking to manage breaks for your exams, this information has moved from the Proctor tab in the exam shell to the new “Exam Parts” tab
Coming Soon: Rich Text Editing and Spell Check in the New Candidate User Interface (UI)
We continue to invest in our next-gen exam delivery platform UI with new tools coming in early January to support the test-taker experience and better replicate real-world experiences:
A configurable spell check tool designed to identify misspelled words and provide spelling suggestions in the Notepads and Essay Response fields. This feature can be enabled as needed for exams and will be available in US-English to start, with possibility of expansion in the future.
Rich text editing in the Notepads and Essay Response fields. Clients will be able to configure additional rich text tools to enable test-takers to format text, including bolding, italicizing, underlining, highlighting, striking through, formatting paragraphs, and adding bulleted and numbered lists.

ProctorU Platform Maintenance Schedule
We perform monthly maintenance on the ProctorU Platform, using the time to implement vital performance and stability updates. During the scheduled windows, the platform will be completely offline, meaning no one will be able to log in. You can review the 2024 and 2025 maintenance schedule in our support center at any time.
Preserving Integrity: How Live Remote Proctoring Counters Proxy Testing Attempts
Proxy testing is one of the oldest forms of exam misconduct—and still one of the most common. We see it manifest in a wide range of forms with varying degrees of technological assistance. From advanced virtual machine stunts to old-fashioned impersonations and disguises, test-takers can be very creative in their attempts. Here’s an example from a recent Live+ remote proctoring session:
A test-taker arrived for their scheduled appointment and began the pre-check launch process. After the session recording began, multiple individuals swapped places in front of the testing computer while the proctor prepared to join the session. Once the proctor connected, they were unable to verify that the person on screen was the same person in the provided government-issued ID. They followed protocol and brought in an intervention specialist (IS) to assist in the ID validation process. The IS reviewed the video recording from before the proctor connected and identified the proxy testing attempt. In accordance with the exam program’s rules, the test-taker was not allowed to begin their exam and we reported the incident for further review and action.
This example highlights the critical role live proctoring plays in upholding the integrity of online testing.
